Last Update: Added Sector-G, Island, and Flags Across the Globe.
Flash Monday, 5 April 2010
I've been messing around in Flash since High School, where I probably tortured a certain Elaine Florimonte. I, of course, blame the endless Bob Marley music playing in the classroom and the countless viewings of Remember the Titans. Either way, I will one day get back to updating some of these old, silly, projects of mine, while other projects were assembled over the years, some during my college days, and some after. I enjoy trying new things in Flash, such as programming, and one of my goals has been the development of a short RPG.
We've entered an age in gaming where web-based games and phone apps are slowly taking over the market share. I'm not much of a Farmviller, but I've clocked plenty of hours playing Lord of Ultima and Dragon Age Journeys, that's for sure. And of those two, the latter is what I would aim for if I were to ever finish my RPG idea. Maybe not as much dialogue, though. What is the purpose of having multiple choice answers when they really don't effect gameplay? In the case of Journeys, there may be three or four response options during dialogue sequences, yet all responses trigger the same end result. Boring!
Their bigger, retail brothers, Ultima Online and Dragon Age, one a MMORPG, the other a CRPG (for some reason, people call computer role playing games CRPGs rather than just RPGs), can obviously hold one's attention for a much longer time than these free web spin-offs. However, these spin-offs will likely catch a few would be clients and provide them with a gentle push off the fence of indecision.
I'm not quite sure if I have corporate plans just yet, I mean, coding games for life, always at the computer, red eyes, cramped hands, I'm not sure that is ideal. I mean, I'm already a writer, and have enough threats from my wrists as it is. But it's fun to fool around in Flash as a hobby, that's for sure, and I hope you can enjoy some of my crazy ideas and have fun in the few games I've created.
